What is better than Zombies?!

NOTHING!

Okay… well, maybe a FEEEEW things. But, that’s not what we are talking about right now. Right now there seems to be a zombie phase going on among everyone in the house. The kids have been watching ALL of the Zombie movies on Disney for the last month. On repeat. Which kind of got me in the zombie mood!

Here is what I have been reading!

First up! Dating After The End of The World by Jeneva Rose.

Casey grew up with an over-protective father that also happened to be a doomsday prepper. As soon as she turned 18, she left. Years later, after becoming a doctor, a strange illness came over. It turned out that not only was her dad right, but home was where she needed to be. Upon arrival, she discovered that the high school bully that made her life a living hell, Blake, was one of the survivors hunkered down. Now she has to figure out how to survive with him.

I LOVED this book. Casey and Blake fought hard to get to a place of survival throughout the book. Survival from the world and survival from themselves. Do people change?

This book also made me literally scream at the end. So, there’s that.

Actually, it wasn’t just that part that made me scream. There are so many moments in this that grip you!

Next up! Zombie Marry Kill by Mackenzie Bates.

The zombie apocalypse doesn’t mean that bills stop being due. Jobs are just as scarce as all of the other resources needed to get by. Even with a job, Sienna is struggling to ensure that her father receives the care he needs while also not takin advantage of her friend. When Josh offers a marriage to help with her financial needs, Sienna isn’t too sure. Especially since she’s in Texas and he is in California! What starts as a means to an end, may just turn into an amazing love story.

Okay, listen… I cannot stop talking about how much I LOVE this book. The burn is slow. But, so damn worth it. This book takes you through everything that it takes to get this marriage official. I love the fact that it was dual POV because it really set the scene and let you get into both of their heads.

The way that Mackenzie writes makes it feel like you are right there in the car with them. The way that she is able to make you feel the tension rising throughout the book. The frustration. The joy. There were parts that made me gasp, parts that made me dig deeper. All I can say is that I CANNOT wait for book 2. I need more. NOW.

Us After All by Eliza Dixon is next up…

Imagine this, the guy that you’ve had a crush on for like, ever, that ghosted you after the holidays shows up at your house and tells you the world is about to end and he needs to take you to your hometown. The hometown he hates but he knows will keep you safe. Do you go with him? Do you resist? Well, Dean doesn’t really give doesn’t really give Lily the choice.

I could have kept reading and reading and reading this book. The world building is intense. It feels like you are on the drive with them through all of the emotions that are poured out. Between accepting that the world is ending, her ex is back, and that they are back in her hometown, and that things weren’t always what they seemed is a lot to take in. But, there is so, so much more! I cannot wait for the rest of this series!

Last but definitely, not least… Last of the Salts by Dawn M. Wallace.

So, this isn’t Zombies… but the world did in fact end! Journalist Ember Kohl is the last person to leave earth during humanity’s exodus as the Sun dies. She joins to help build the new civilization on a new and untamed planet. This brings about questions about power, consciousness, and hope.

This book was amazing. Truly. The writing was amazing. Poetic and heartbreaking. This book truly has me questioning a lot of things currently happening around us. This book is a beautiful eye opener that everyone should read.

Okay… So those are MY end of the world suggestions… what are yours?
